And what is meant by Instincts.
Which comes first, the Instincts or The Instinct Engine?
Lets clarify what ConserveLiberty means by these terms.
Instincts
Cognitively speaking, the instincts are the things we execute without thnking about them before doing them. Or, perhaps better, instincts are the feelings or urges we have without thinking about what feelings or urges we should have. They are not decided. They simply are.
We may think we think about these instinctual actions or preferences before deciding how we will feel or act, but we actually do not. We may, however, think about what it is we are doing or feeling as we are doing what we did not think about before doing or feeling it. That is more accurately "observation and consideration" of what we are doing. We didn't decide to do it, we just did it.
If we think we actually decided to do or feel it, more accurately we simply may have been aware that we wanted to do it, and then we either did it, or realized we already did it. Our desire to feel like we are more in control than we actually are (which may be an instinctive desire!) actually may get in the way of our being able to understand instincts.
The irony is amusing. And, the irony is Truth.
The Instinct Engine
All the Instincts are determined genetically. These genetic components make up the "subroutines" which together as ensembles result in our genetically instinctual behaviors, perceptions, and reactions. The execution of these subroutines are started (or restarted during Cognitive Reboot) by The Instinct Engine.
One legitimate way of looking at this is that The Instinct Engine is actually the first Instinct. The "Prerequisite Instinct" if you will. And then from it, all the other genetically determined instincts come into being via their execution, initiated by The Instinct Engine.
In a Cognitive Reboot, The Instinct Engine starts up first. If it can. If it can, then the rest restarts sequentially as the Reboot progresses.
