Author's Note

This chapter was initially released on October 31, 2014 as v #1.0. It was one of the first Personality Spectrum Filter chapters released. Since that time, the presentation, inclusion, breadth, and understanding of information available within the ConserveLiberty resource has evolved.

For that reason, ConserveLiberty has updated and expanded the information presented regarding the Violence (Monster) Personality Spectrum Ensemble. It is now v #2.1. A clue to a section's last update can be seen by the dates beneath them.

This chapter is still considered incomplete by current ConserveLiberty standards. The "Big Picture", "Filters in Play", "Issues", and concluding "Moving Forward" sections still need to be added.

"We (The Living) have been at War ever since The Beginning of The Living. At war with both The Alive and The NOT Alive.

All The Living persists biologically. Chemically. We derive the energy to persist, grow, heal, and reproduce either by consuming (thus killing) other of The Living, or by transforming the NOT Living into something other than what it was before we interacted with it.

Other of The Living consumes or wants to consume us. The NOT Living can terminate us as well just by being What It Is and doing What It Does. To Persist so that our Lineage Persists, all of The Living defends and protects itself, adapts, or goes Extinct.

All living now have thus participated in the termination of the Other throughout all their Lineage since The Beginning." - David Apollo

Preface

The Violence (Monster) Personality Spectrum Ensemble is a challenging Filter to write about, contemplate, and interpret. To one degree or another, most of us are endowed with this filter. In each of us its level of default expression may be different, either higher or lower, and enabled by slightly different mixtures of the ensemble of components that generate it. While this is true for all of the filters that influence our perception of the environment and relationships we interact with, and our reactions with and to them, this filter is special in a particularly interesting way.

ConserveLiberty will often abbreviate the name of this Ensemble as The Violence Filter.

We start each Personality Spectrum Filter Chapter by reminding the reader several things about the filters, ensembles, and tapestries. ← Click there.

The biological and genetic basis underlying human personality is expected to be quite complex, with many component parts. By no means should it be construed or implied that the Violence (Monster) Personality Spectrum Ensemble is the result of a single gene. Rather, an ensemble of biological parts are necessary to be expressed and put together just right so that a person's individual default and range settings on the Violence Filter is determined.

Numerous genes are involved, functioning together as an ensemble of filters, which together under the right circumstances result in our ability to both recognize harmful or violent situations that are a threat to us AND manifest violence in order to resolve those threats.

The generation or manifestations of "violent" behaviors arise within individuals from two sources. The first source is Instinctive. The Second source is learned. It is thus Indoctrinated. Indoctrinations are learned and embraced habituated perspectives, assumptions, and responses to our environment beyond those that we are born with instinctively.

We refer to these cooperatively operating systems, all acting together, as the Violence (Monster) Personality Spectrum Ensemble.
