Grateful for Devotion
Offered by David Apollo

Every year the U.S. celebrates Memorial Day.

And every year, it seems we miss the point. We do give recognition for "a reason" we are celebrating the day.

But the fact is that What should be remembered is an extraordinary Spiritual Fact of human existence.

Spiritual, independant of "religious." The Spiritual transcends anything religious. The "Religious" is (in reality at its core and underneath the narrative we wrap around it,) simply the recognition of truths that transcend and are a part of us, instinctually. At Our Core. Whether or not we are actually religious.

While perhaps not instinctual to everyone, importantly, the Truth that is important to remember on Memorial Day is instinctual to many. And, Memorial Day is not really a holiday in which everyone is celebrated. Rather, it is a holiday where Gratitude is felt by many towards the few that held a Devotion (profound dedication) to each other so strongly that they were willing to die defending it. And did!

The Spiritual Fact of human existence is that some of us are wired up (e.g. filtered) such that we actually will devote ourselves so fully to what we are a part of, what we consider ourselves part of the fabric of, that we will do what we can to maintain its survival all the way to our death if that is what is required. What has been referred to as "The Greatest Measure of Devotion." Everyone knows what that means, even if not everyone is actually willing to execute it for our country.

The video nearby marks a wonderful and factual narrative illustrating the Reality of the Devotion given by the soldiers we honor on this day. Devotion shown to be Real only through their Deeds executed in the face of the mortal consequences clearly understood and in plain sight.

Examples of factual speeches
and essays by others:
In this case, devotion to the United States of America. Importantly, not Love for Country, but rather Devotion to Country.

More accurately, what the men and women (who died while doing what they could to make sure this country survived) were devoted to was "what this country stands for."

And without their devotion to serve and defend this country mortally, then it is a Fact that this country and what it stands for would have perished long ago. There are those who may disagree with that statement. They are mistaken. And are not able to comprehend otherwise.

And, what does this country stand for?

Well, that is what is special, isn't it? Because it does not stand for whoever is leading it at the time, what political organization is leading it at the time, or even what the political marketing narrative of the political organization leading it is (or, sounds like it is.) Rather, what this country stands for is what it was founded to stand for.

And that foundation was set forth in its original Declaration of Independance, and the written Constitution that was created as the U.S. generated its nationhood.

The U.S. was founded as a country ruled by laws, and not by the men and women leading it.

(Although men and women, being and built the way they are, have ever since attempted to enable an encroaching tyranny in whatever manner they can so long as that tyranny flows to them. Still, the systems of checks and balances that were implemented have served to delay a full centralized tyranny for over 200 years as of this writing.)

And the gyst of those laws, within the confines of the Declaration and the Constitution that evolved after it ... what was that Intention that our nation Declared it was fully Devoted to? That it would preserve with no excuse or tolerance for failure? So meaningful that all our leaders who are elected to serve us repeatedly pledge to honor and defend?

Quite simple, really. Can be summed up in a few words.

Their pledge is to     →   ConserveLiberty!

Remember Memorial Day. Gratefully. And in the honor of those who gave Their Full Measure, ConserveLiberty

Thus endeth the Thought for the Week!!!
