Important → Among other things, this WSJ video essay highlights various cognitive and subliminal areas of perspective (e.g. visual and verbal perception and interpretation) that result in our believing that someone or some thing in some way feels as we might were we in their situation. A precondition of Attachment Formation. Empathy is misdirected when we imagine how we would feel if we were in "their" shoes. True empathy imagines how we would feel if we were "them" in their shoes.
